Rowen Kahn is a director, writer, composer and actor living and working between LA and Vancouver. He is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada. His first short film, Marsha! (2019) - a comedy about the darker sides of sibling rivalry - screened at several prestigious festivals, including the Napa Valley International Film Festival, the Santa Barbara Int’l Film Festival, and Lower East Side Film Festival. Rowen subsequently was hired to direct a new short film for Pardus Productions called The Innocent Butler, featuring Ron Perlman, which will soon begin its festival run.

He was born in Los Angeles in 1994, then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. He began acting at a young age and has worked extensively as an actor in film and television over the past decade, including in substantial roles in Man of Steel, Harvest Moon, and Disney’s hit Radio Rebel. As the son of Emmy-winning producer Harvey Kahn and artist Holly Collins, Rowen grew up in the arts and on film sets learning from master filmmakers and technicians. He has worked and trained extensively in many areas of show business along the way. He gained invaluable industry training while working as a reader and assistant for Emmy-winning casting director Jackie Lind.

Rowen attended Sarah Lawrence College (Class of '16) where he began his directing training staging plays and studying under Dan Hurlin. After graduating with a B.A. in Literature and Creative Writing, Rowen studied acting and scene study in Manhattan with Peter Jensen at the T. Schreiber Studio and continued to create and act in films, plays and musicals, as well as Off-Broadway and regional theater productions. During this time, he also starred in the acclaimed Joni Mitchell musical, ‘Circle Game’. Rowen is also an accomplished, classically trained musician. He often plays and sings in his film and theater work, and he composed the scores for both Marsha! and The Innocent Butler, among others. He has released an album of original songs and has performed at many celebrated venues in New York City and Washington DC.

Rowen's strength is the depth of his knowledge and experience in a number of areas relevant to directing. Rowen has had the privilege of observing and working closely with many prolific directors and filmmakers, either on set or in the casting process, including Zack Snyder, Peter Deluise, Keith Powell, Michael M. Scott, Peter Howitt and Norman Buckley. Rowen just completed shadowing director Monika Mitchell on a Netflix movie starring Alyssa Milano, slated to release in the fall of 2021.
